Gemma O’Connell M.I.A.CP

I provide one to one counselling and psychotherapy for adults and adolescents in Ballincollig, Cork City. Counselling and Psychotherapy is for anyone who wants to gain support and make meaning from their experience. I work with clients aged over 15 who wish to become empowered to confidently navigate their own lives with acceptance and awareness. Clients under 18 need their guardian consent and involvement.

I use an integrative approach drawing from a wide range of theories and methods. I work in a collaborative way with each individual finding what they need in order to achieve and realise their particular goals.

I’m a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in Ballincollig, Cork City. I work one to one with individuals (age 15 years up) seeking relational support. Support services range from those experiencing difficulty with self image, anxiety, depression, stress, low mood, grief and loss, relationship and family issues, and many more. My work is trauma informed.

I work from a humanistic relational view with an integrated theoretical approach. The methods I use are catered specifically to the indivdual. I draw from Person Centered theory, Family Systems theory, Internal Family Systems, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Attachment Theory, Character formation and styles, Relational therapy, Neuro Affective Relational Model, Polyvagal Theory, Trauma and dissociation treatment and many more. I work on the belief that self acceptance through self compassion, in a supported relationship can help provide the ability to change the things that are causing conflict and distress. What we become aware of and accept we can then change.

Gemma O’Connell M.I.A.C.P has completed both a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy from MTU (formerly CIT). She also has completed a diploma in Integrative Adolescent Psychotherapy at the Greenane Centre. She is a fully Accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MIACP).
